These beautifully crafted shears are made of high quality hardened Yasuki Hagane Japanese steel (a similar material to what is used to forge an authentic Japanese sword).

The shears are both robust & versatile and have a unique hollow indentation along each blade (the darker steel in the close up image). This genius design allows the hollow to collect sap and other debris keeping the cutting blade clean and sharp for longer. The shears can cut green wood up to 8mm in diameter if positioned in the base of the shears.

Full Length : 605 mm

The Yoshioka family has been in the business of producing high quality tools since 1946 when the founder Mr Kihachi Yoshioka was a manufacturer of dressmaking scissors. Today the company is now a third generation business operated by Takashi Yoshioka crafting hedge shears and garden scissors.

The master performs a series of stringent manufacturing processes  to produce these beautiful tools include forging, colouring, grinding, polishing, sharpening, assembling & adjusting.

Forging:

The first secret to these beautiful tools is the way the steel is heated to ultra high temperatures and becomes tougher and stronger as it hand pressed and beaten into shape.

Sharpening:

The next secret is the blade. Two blades engage making each cut sharp and efficient. Please note the back of the blade should never be sharpened.

Assembly:

Each tool is expertly assembled by the skilled Japanese craftsmen engaging all their senses for them to pass the final test.

Care Instructions:

- Never cut hard objects with these Shears. They are designed to cut green raw branches and stems.

- Like all professional cutting tools - to prolong blade life wipe down with a solvent/lubricant at the end of each day to prevent sap build up.

- Never sharpen the back of your blade. It will harm the product.
